My work predominantly explores the image of the human body depicted in the depersonalised way seen in MRI/CT scans, X-Rays and anatomical diagrams. With the use of the found image I like to make new and interesting forms using pattern, symmetry and layering techniques. Maps, religious symbols and text from Leonardo da Vinci writings on anatomy, All feature in my work and are used in a symbolic way to explore my ideas.
Formerly I have been mainly working in print, however I have since moved back to painting and drawing and am finding new ways to use the found image within it. Interested by the contrast between the fluidity of painting and the cold clinical texture of the found image, I am excited to find new meanings and connections between them.
