A private semaphore of obsessive looking, the works in this show make for something of a tongue-in-cheek retrospective. Drawn from several years of continuous studio activity they vary in style and scale. Notions of historiography, repetition, rotation, countermeasure – ways of thinking and behaving that have occupied the artist several years – remain the ambivalent undercurrent, morphing into different painterly manifestations brought together for the first time.
Daniel Pettitt was born in Brighton, studied painting at the Royal College of Art in London in 2017 and Fine Art at Bath Spa University School of Art and Design in 2008. He now lives and works in London. His work has been exhibited widely in the UK and beyond including Glasgow, Sheffield, Milan, London and Liverpool.
