Collage: Liz Carson
8 March @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 12:00pm, repeating until 16 April 2019
What is now becomes the past and each moment helps to create a future. In some of Carson’s collages, newspapers are torn layered and overpainted as stories are lost, enabling something new to emerge. Some surfaces are reminiscent of paint-peeling graffitied walls on buildings the world over, as people leave their marks behind them; other work echoes the cycles of nature, reflecting a lifelong love of the countryside.
“The creative process is for me a deep and complex one, being of equal importance as the subject matter or materials. As a painting emerges, a point arises when the process begins to generate its own energy, the work becoming intuitive.”
Liz Carson studied in the 1960s at St Albans School of Art, the Byam Shaw London and Bretton Hall in Yorkshire. She lives and works in Bath exhibiting mainly in the South West.
