‘the folding line of tension and retention’
The concept that the building is a retaining element between the road, an ordered infrastructure, and the river, which if not bound would flow naturally, seeks a solution that connects the two tensions. I developed a folded wall that created pockets of space between the circulation areas and the studios. I have experimented with offsetting spaces above and below. Sinks, stairs and services become part of the wall, which is also a directional element that guides users through the building. Thresholds to the studios are punctured through the wall signifying a change in space.
